7 May 1945; June 1940; 1920; 30 August 1940
This interrogation explains the reasons for "Hitler's Intervention in the Dispute between Hungary and Roumania" [sic] over the territory of Siebenbuergen (Transylvania). Hitler's main objective was to settle the matter quickly, thereby forestalling an armed conflict in southeastern Europe that would jeopardize Germany's supply of Romanian oil. This document is a typewritten carbon copy of document 6.07 and is stamped "SECRET." To confirm the name of the witness, please note the Contents of Volume XII, Part 1, which lists the source of document 24.06 as von Rintelen; and document 24.06 itself, which identifies the Ambassador at large captured 7 May 1945 at Garmisch-Partenkirchen as P/W 3WG-1293.
