General Walter Warlimont on The Initial Attempts of a Military Cooperation Between Germany and France (1940/1941) / Special Detention Center Ashcan / CCPWE # 32, APO 513 / Detailed Interrogation Report / SECRET
10 December 1940; 8 November 1942; 23 May 1945; 29 June 1945; 14 July 1945
This document is a detailed interrogation report of Walter Warlimont on the subject of the German-French military alliance that followed the Armistice of 1940. Apart from several brief perambulatory items, the document is a first-person account by General Warlimont that describes the negotiations Germany held with French leaders to secure France's active participation in the war on the side of the Germans. Although the French never fought successfully as a German ally, they seem to have been generally willing to do so. This document is a typewritten copy of adequate quality on slightly browning paper.
