53.101 (Griggs memo & FBI report)
This section comprises a lengthy FBI report on Fritz Weidemann and a cover memo from Lt. Col. John W. Griggs to Mr. Justice Jackson. A note handwritten in pencil on the lower half of the memo page reads as follows: "For Col Amen / On these general aspects of Weidemanns [sic] activity in U.S. Bill Donovan has had some contacts and might be a good one to give him a going over. He has read the prior interrogation by OSS people in the Orient [?] and has shown a good deal of interest in Weidemann." The note is initialed, "RHJ." The memo is a typewritten original of excellent quality on sturdy, stable paper. The FBI report is a typewritten carbon copy of good to excellent quality on thin paper that, despite some marginal browning, remains in very good condition.
