62.03 (von Papen, draft)
This document is a draft of Neumann's summary account of von Papen's political machinations prior to Hitler's designation as Reich Chancellor, as well as his (von Papen's) motives for convincing Hindenburg to prefer the Nazis to General Schleicher's government. Neumann describes von Papen as instrumental in the Nazis' seizure of power and, as Vice Chancellor, chiefly responsible for the numerous Nazi laws enacted during the first year of the Third Reich. The document is a typewritten copy of adequate to poor quality on brown, brittle paper.
